Phoenix Comicon 2014 Banner

Just a reminder that Toy Anxiety will again be at this year’s Phoenix Comicon. Please note that the Comicon has been moved this year from Memorial Day weekend to the weekend of June 5-8.

We are already getting some amazing items ready to take with us to the show. Look for the large Toy Anxiety Las Vegas-style sign and stop on by. Tell Dan you saw this on the blog; you never know what he might do.

Here are some of the Television and Movie Stars that will be attending.

The First ‘Star Wars’ Standalone Movie Will Be About Boba Fett: Source

As much excitement as there is over the upcoming “Star Wars: Episode VII,” there’s just as much interest in the standalone — of spinoff — “Star Wars” movies that Lawrence Kasdan and Simon Kinberg overseeing. Characters like Yoda and Han Solo have been rumored to be the subjects of the movies, but now a source is saying that bounty hunter Boba Fett will be the focus of the first.

On AMC’s Movie Talk (via JoBlo.com), Jon Schnepp — director of animated series “Metalocalypse” and “The Venture Bros.” — shared this particular info.

“One of them is Boba Fett. It is. I know. I know for a fact,” Schnepp said. “I will never reveal my source, but it is the one written by Lawrence Kasdan.”

That would make sense, since Kasdan’s “Empire Strikes Back” first introduced the now-iconic character. And since Disney has confirmed that the standalone movies will be origin stories, a Boba Fett movie could focus on his early years as a bounty hunter.

The first “Star Wars” standalone movie is expected to be released in 2016, a year after “Star Wars: Episode VII.”

TODAY, Saturday, December 7th! The Toy Anxiety Annual Toy Drive

Toy Anxiety Annual Toy Drive

If you have not attended this event in the past, you must check it out! We will have several costuming groups representing many familiar characters from Star Wars to Super Heroes and more! Kids and adults alike will have a great time visiting and taking pictures with everyone in their awesome costumes! We encourage you to wear yours as well!

As mentioned, this is a Toy Drive, so we will be accepting Toy donations, which will be distributed locally to children in need. Toys are especially needed for younger boys and girls as well as items for teens. All toys need to be new and in their original packages (if applicable), but not gift wrapped. Anyone who donates a toy will be given a storewide SALE sheet for in store purchases of up to 75% off*. Even if you don’t plan to purchase anything, any donations will be appreciated.

Also, anyone who donates a toy will receive a raffle ticket for which you can win a variety of great prizes. Drawings will be held often all day during the event, though you must be present to claim your prize.

We look forward to seeing everyone, and please spread the word. The more donations the better.

*Sale does not apply to any consignment items and cannot be combined with other coupons or store discounts. Sale applies to in store items (no Internet), and only items on the floor (no backstock).

When I Grow Up I Want to be like Mommy

First Grade Drawing – PRICELESS!
A first grade girl handed in the drawing above for her homework assignment.

The teacher graded it and the child brought it home.

She returned to school the next day with the following note:

Dear Ms. Davis,

I want to be perfectly clear on my child’s homework illustration.
It is NOT of me on a dance pole on a stage in a strip joint surrounded by male customers with money.
I work at Home Depot and had commented to my daughter how much money we made in the recent snowstorm.
This drawing is of me selling a shovel.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Harrington
